Bengaluru hosted a Unity Run to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, renowned as the “Iron Man of India” and the nation’s first Home Minister. Organised at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the event was announced by B.Y. Vijayendra, the BJP state president and MLA.

The “Unity Run” commenced at Gate No. 2, Kanteerava Stadium in the morning. During his address, Vijayendra underscored Patel’s profound contributions to the unity and integrity of India, emphasising his distinctive service to the nation. He explained that the objective of the Unity Run (Run for Unity) is to honour Sardar Patel and to enlighten future generations about his invaluable contributions.

Notably, Vijayendra clarified that the event was scheduled ahead of Diwali and was not politically motivated. He remarked that Prime Minister Modi is working to realise Sardar Patel’s vision of national unity and integrity, which is essential for transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.

R. Ashok, the opposition leader, also addressed attendees, highlighting Patel’s pivotal role in abolishing the Nizam rule in Karnataka and uniting India. He pointed out that the country is celebrating Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, and the run serves as a platform to promote national unity and progress.

The event saw participation from various dignitaries, including MLAs Krishnaappa, Ravi Subrahmanya, Raghu, state general secretary P. Rajeev, Nandeesh Reddy, and Bengaluru North district president Harish. Their presence underscored the importance of the occasion and the collective commitment to fostering national integrity.

The Unity Run served as a powerful reminder of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s enduring legacy and the ongoing efforts to promote unity in India. By celebrating his contributions, the event aimed to inspire future generations to uphold the values of integrity and solidarity that Patel championed throughout his life.
