Karwar: The sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have arrested a youth on charges of having links to terrorist organizations. The NIA officials conducted a raid on a house belonging to Abdul Shakoor in Dasankoppa, Sirsi taluk, and took him into custody. The arrest was made with the assistance of the Banavasi police.
Abdul Shakoor, a 32-year-old resident of Dasankoppa, was working in Dubai and had returned to the village for the Bakrid celebration. Recently, he posted an inflammatory message on his social media account, allegedly intending to spark communal tension, according to sources.
Sources also revealed that Abdul Shakoor might have used fake documents to obtain a passport. He is a member of the banned PFI and is facing charges of encouraging terror activities. The NIA might have took him into custody suspecting his involvement in the Mangaluru cooker blast and the recent Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, said sources.
