Search Operations Resume for Missing Landslide Victims in Karwar

Gas Tanker And The Chassis Of A Lorry Belonging To Arjun

After 29 days of halted efforts, search operations have resumed in Karwar’s Shirur area to locate three missing persons believed to have been washed into the Gangavali River following a devastating landslide. The search was delayed due to challenging conditions, but on the orders of Karwar MLA Satish Sail, the district administration renewed its efforts with the help of underwater diving expert Ishwar Malpe from Udupi.

During the search, a small part of a gas tanker and the chassis of a lorry belonging to Arjun, one of the missing persons from Kerala, were recovered. Although the bodies of Arjun, Jagannatha from Shirur, and Lokesh from Gangekolla are yet to be found, these discoveries have provided new hope to the search team.

The operation is now a joint effort involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the district administration, and the Indian Navy. The Navy will deploy radar and advanced equipment to assist in the search, while divers will continue their underwater search in the Gangavali River.
