Hospet: V.S. Jagadish, the Divisional Controller (DC) of the Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC), was apprehended by Lokayukta police on Wednesday evening while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a bus conductor.
The DC had allegedly demanded ₹25,000 to drop a departmental inquiry against the conductor, of which he had already received ₹5,000 as an advance. While accepting the remaining ₹20,000 in his office on the first floor of the KKRTC bus stand, Lokayukta police conducted a raid.
Ballari Lokayukta SP Siddaraju confirmed that the DC was caught red-handed with the bribe money. The operation was led by DYSP Shilavant Hosmani.
This incident highlights ongoing issues of corruption within government transport corporations and the active role of Lokayukta in combating such practices.
