Three days after the deadly Maoist IED attack in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, that killed eight District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans and driver Tuleshwar Rana, another body part of the driver was found around 200 meters from the blast site. This discovery comes as the authorities continue their investigation into the incident.

  • IED Attack: On January 6, a DRG team returning from an anti-Naxal operation in Abujhmad was targeted by a powerful IED explosion near Ambeli village in Bijapur. The explosion resulted in the deaths of eight jawans and the driver, Tuleshwar Rana.
  • Blast Impact: The force of the blast was so intense that the vehicle was destroyed, with parts found hanging on nearby trees. Initial searches suggested Rana was missing, but later, body parts were recovered.
  • Recovery: A body part of Rana was found 200 meters away from the blast site on January 9. The remains will undergo forensic investigation before being handed over to his family for cremation.
  • Funeral: The jawans were given state honours, while Tuleshwar Rana’s family is also making arrangements for his cremation.
