Vijayapura: A shocking incident occurred near Balaganur Cross in Talikoti taluk, where Ramanagowda locked the gate of Doranahalli School, demanding to be made the president of the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC).
Ramanagowda’s father, Hanumantha Gowda, had donated 5 acres of land for the school’s construction in 2009. Since then, Ramanagowda had been the SDMC president. However, he was replaced this time due to a new government rule stating that only parents with children in the school can be considered for the position. Ramanagowda, who does not have children studying at the school, became enraged and locked the school, expelling students and teachers.
The school has 23 students from classes one to five who are now affected by the dispute. The Block Education Officer (BEO) visited the site and assured Ramanagowda that the matter would be discussed in the presence of elders in the afternoon. However, Ramanagowda relocked the school, stating that he would only reopen it if his demand is met.
Ramanagowda claimed that his family was promised the SDMC presidency when they donated the land, and he will continue to lock the school until his demand is fulfilled. The incident has raised concerns about the impact of personal disputes on the education of innocent students.
