Kalasa : Residents of Konegodu Harijan Colony in Meigal village, part of the Sanse Gram Panchayat, are enduring severe difficulties due to the absence of a connecting road to their village. The issue was tragically highlighted when Avinash, a young villager who passed away on Friday, had to be carried on a pole due to the lack of proper access.
Avinash had been admitted to the hospital the previous day, but his relatives were forced to transport him on their backs due to the impassable terrain. Following his death, the body was similarly carried on a stick for cremation, underscoring the critical lack of infrastructure that affects the villagers’ daily lives and their ability to handle emergencies.
The problem is exacerbated during the rainy season when the village becomes isolated because of a swollen stream. Despite repeated requests for road and bridge construction to improve access, the villagers’ pleas have not been addressed by local authorities and representatives.
Girija, a resident, voiced the collective frustration of the community, stating, “We don’t even have basic road facilities. It’s sad that no one has compassion for us.” The tragic incident has brought attention to the urgent need for infrastructure development in the region to alleviate the hardships faced by the villagers.
The situation highlights the critical need for immediate infrastructure improvements in Kalasa. The lack of a connecting road not only hampers daily activities but also exacerbates emergencies, making it essential for the authorities to take prompt action to address the community’s needs and improve their quality of life.
