Kodagu: A building in Gonikoppal in Kodagu District collapsed on Thursday, prompting immediate action from authorities. Rescue efforts are currently in progress, with nine people already rescued from the rubble of the Ambur Biriyani hotel.
Among the rescued are the hotel’s owner, Tirumurugan, his wife Alamelu, their son Narayana, and an employee named Malinga. A patron named Madhu, who suffered a leg fracture, has been taken to Gonikoppa hospital. Another individual with a head injury has been transferred to a hospital in Mysuru, according to media reports.
The hotel owner recounted that most people managed to escape as the building started to give way, and those who were trapped have since been rescued. Despite this, local residents believe that two more individuals may still be buried under the debris, leading to the continuation of rescue operations.
