Eighteen students from the pre-metric hostel in Ammanallur, Kolar taluk, fell ill after having dosa and chutney for breakfast on Friday morning. The affected students experienced symptoms including vomiting and nausea and were promptly taken to the primary health center in Ammanallur for treatment. After receiving medical care, they were discharged.

The hostel, which accommodates 54 students, had served the same breakfast to all residents. While the exact cause of the illness has not yet been determined, food safety authorities have collected samples of the breakfast items for analysis. The goal is to identify any potential contaminants that may have caused the adverse reactions.

As of now, no definitive link between the food served and the students’ symptoms has been established. Investigations are ongoing to ensure the safety and well-being of the students and to prevent future incidents. The health center and hostel management are cooperating fully with the analysis and are taking all necessary steps to address the situation.
