The Kolar-Chikkaballapur District Cooperative Milk Union (Kochimul) has announced a reduction in the price of milk purchased from farmers by ₹2 per litre. This decision was made during the Kochimul Administrative Council meeting on Thursday and will be effective immediately.
Previously, milk producers received ₹33.40 per liter while associations were compensated ₹35.85. With the new reduction, farmers will now receive ₹31.40 per litre and associations will receive ₹33.85.
Officials from Kochimul have justified the price cut by citing higher milk production during the rainy season.
However, dairy farmers and agricultural workers in the area have expressed concern over the financial impact this decision may have on them.
In a related development, a farmer supplied milk to a dairy at Chitnahalli in Kolar taluk on Thursday amid these changes to purchase prices.
