A tragic incident was reported from Kolar where a seven-year-old boy died after allegedly coming into contact with a live electric wire that had reportedly fallen onto the road following heavy rainfall.
The deceased child has been identified as Syed Rehman.
Incident occurred during gathering
According to reports, the incident took place in Pul Shah Mohalla under the jurisdiction of the Galpet Police Station during a religious death ceremony gathering where several people had assembled.
Witnesses said panic erupted after the child accidentally came in contact with the live wire while people were eating at the venue.
A CCTV video of the incident has also surfaced online, reportedly capturing the moment the boy collapsed after suffering the electric shock.
Three other children narrowly escape
Reports stated that three other children identified as Imran, Jabi and Syed narrowly escaped during the incident.
People present at the location were seen rushing to pull the child away from the live wire after the electrocution, triggering chaos and fear among those gathered there.
Investigation underway
Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident.
The incident has also raised concerns about electrical safety during heavy rains and the dangers posed by fallen live wires in residential areas.
