Koppal: A major job scam has come to light, with numerous job seekers being deceived into believing they would secure positions as FDA process servers in courts. The mastermind behind this fraudulent scheme is Siddalingaiah Hiremath, the spouse of a former Koppal councillor and the owner of a private college.

The scam was exposed when Abdul Razak from Bengaluru lodged a complaint with the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) police station on July 31, 2024. According to the complaint, Hiremath had claimed to be well-connected with a judge and collected Rs 7 lakh from Abdul Razak’s cousin, Javeed, promising him a job. Razak’s complaint also accuses Hiremath of cheating other individuals, including Raghu BS, Arun, Pratap K, Yoganand, Shanthakumar C, and Manu S, by taking a total of Rs 49 lakh from them under the pretense of securing employment.

Reports suggest that Hiremath has defrauded over 80 applicants from Koppal, Raichur, Ballari, and Vijayanagara districts. The victims paid substantial amounts of money at Hiremath’s private college in Koppal, with some even recording their payments on mobile devices. Hiremath allegedly provided Javeed and other applicants with fake appointment letters bearing the title ‘Chief Judge, High Court of Karnataka’ and a forged signature. When these letters were presented at the Kalaburagi court, officials confirmed they were counterfeit.

Following this revelation, Hiremath reportedly threatened those demanding refunds. A young woman from Ballari shared her experience, stating that she and 84 others had handed over money to Hiremath a year ago with no job offers or refunds to show for it.

Koppal SP Dr. Ram L. Arasiddi confirmed that a case has been registered against Hiremath at the Bengaluru CCB police station. “We are aware of the issue but had not received complaints from Koppal and nearby areas. We urge victims to come forward so we can take appropriate action,” he stated.

The Bengaluru CCB police have arrested Hiremath and are currently collecting further evidence and footage from the victims to advance the investigation.
