In a tragic incident in Koppal district, three young men were run over by a train after falling asleep on the railway track late Thursday night. The victims, identified as Mounish Pattar, 23, Sunil, 23, and Venkat Bhimanaik, were from Hirejantakal village in Gangavathi taluk.

The trio had been celebrating on the tracks, a remote location in their village, and consumed alcohol during their party. As the evening wore on, they fell asleep on the railway tracks. At approximately 9:30 pm, a train traveling from Hubballi to Sindhanoor struck them.

The accident was discovered when the train’s loco pilot notified the station guard at Sindhanoor. The bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent for postmortem. Sunil’s body was later transported to his hometown of Maski in Raichur district.

Sunil had recently completed his graduation, while Mounish and Venkat were pursuing their higher studies. Mounish’s father operates a shop near the Anjanadri Hanuman temple, according to a senior police officer.

The tragic event has shocked the local community, and investigations are ongoing to determine any further details surrounding the accident.
