In Koppal, leaders from the local Veerashaiva Lingayat community have called for the removal of Halakeri Sri Annadaneshwar Shakha Mutt’s property from the Waqf Board’s records. The Mutt, with a history dating back centuries, is at the center of controversy due to its land being listed as Waqf property since January 2021. The community leaders argue that this registration undermines the Mutt’s historical significance and legacy.

During a meeting at the Mutt, they urged the state government to act swiftly and reverse the Waqf inclusion. They stressed the importance of the Mutt to the community and warned of possible future protests if the issue remains unresolved.
