Mangaluru: The State Government has approved Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay (FMHT), a new Unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) to start a Nursing College in Thumbay. The foundation laying ceremony will be held on Tuesday July 26 at 4.00 pm.
Bishop of Mangaluru Rev. Dr. Peter Saldanha will bless and lay the foundation stone at the Thumbay Hospital premises.
Speaking to NewsKarnataka Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, Administrator, Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay said, “It is very good news for Father Muller Charitable Institutions.”
He further said that Thumbay is about 15 kms away from Mangaluru City. “This is the first that a nursing school is coming up in Bantwala Taluk. Two years back we had applied and now both the Government and Rajiv Gandhi University have approved to start a new nursing college. We had applied for 60 seats. However, the Government has given permission for 40 seats. Out of 40, 20 per cent seats will be Government seats and the remaining are management seats,” he added.
