Bengaluru, renowned for its thriving startup scene and pleasant climate, has recently faced harsh scrutiny on social media, with many claiming the city has lost its former charm. However, for Pranay Loya, a returnee from Gurgaon, the city’s essence remains intact despite his five-year absence.

Loya, who has a background in fintech and entrepreneurship, asserts that Bengaluru’s spirit of innovation and inclusivity is unparalleled. He dismissed the negative narratives, stating, “Regardless of what social media claims, this city retains its charm and abundant opportunities.”

He acknowledged the challenges still faced by the city, humorously noting, “Auto and cab drivers drive like there’s no tomorrow.” However, he was pleased to experience no judgment for speaking Hindi, highlighting Bengaluru’s welcoming nature. Loya quipped, “If you throw a paper plane into a crowd, chances are it will land in front of a startup founder working in Generative AI,” emphasizing the entrepreneurial energy in the air.

On the practical side, Loya praised Bengaluru’s weather, saying, “I could work for 70 hours a week just sitting on the terrace without feeling the heat.” This climate has long attracted professionals seeking a balance between work and life. He also mentioned the affordability of the city, recalling a meal at Tazaa Thindi, where a dosa, idli, vada, and filter coffee cost just ₹100—an attractive price point compared to other metros.

Despite recent issues like language disputes and traffic congestion, Loya believes Bengaluru remains a land of opportunities. Many have left lucrative jobs in other cities to pursue their dreams here, drawn by the city’s infrastructure and access to venture capital.

His optimistic post resonated with many, garnering over 2,900 comments and more than a hundred likes and shares, showcasing a counter-narrative to the prevailing criticisms of Bengaluru.
