Mandi: Actor Yami Gautam’s connection with Himachal Pradesh goes back to her childhood, and the actor has now made the hill state her permanent base with husband and filmmaker Aditya Dhar.

The couple owns a reportedly 100-year-old heritage house on a 25-acre estate near Gohar in Mandi district. The property, built using traditional Himachali architectural elements such as stone and wood, is surrounded by greenery, organic gardens and a greenhouse.

According to a Financial Express report, the property is valued at around Rs 8 crore. For Yami, however, the home has reportedly been more about her emotional connection with Himachal Pradesh than its financial value.

The actor has frequently spoken about her Himachali roots and has shared glimpses of her home, gardens and life away from the bustle of Mumbai on social media.

A heritage home with a century-old history

Yami’s Himachal property is reportedly around a century old and retains several features associated with traditional architecture in the region.

According to the Financial Express, the house makes extensive use of wood and stone, with a gently sloping roof and deep-set windows. The design is notably different from the contemporary luxury homes often associated with Bollywood celebrities.

Inside, exposed old wooden beams are among the property’s most prominent features. Wooden detailing and warm natural shades give the interiors a rustic appearance while retaining the character of the old structure.

The house reportedly avoids excessive contemporary detailing, including floor-to-ceiling glass windows and elaborate modern furniture.

Instead, its appeal comes from traditional materials, simple interiors and the surrounding natural landscape.

Yami’s childhood connection to Himachal

Yami Gautam’s decision to own a home in Himachal Pradesh is closely connected to her childhood memories.

Although she grew up in Chandigarh, the actor spent her summer holidays at her maternal grandmother’s home in Shimla. Those visits helped establish her long-standing connection with the state.

The heritage property near Mandi has therefore offered Yami a way to remain connected to the region while creating a private family home.

Her social media posts have frequently reflected that connection, with the actor sharing photographs and videos from the property and surrounding farmland.

The house has also become an important location in her personal life.

Yami and Aditya Dhar got married at the property

Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar married in June 2021, with the wedding taking place at the Himachal property.

The intimate ceremony was attended by close family members and reflected the couple’s preference for a relatively private celebration.

The heritage house consequently became more than simply a property for the actor. It became part of an important milestone in her personal life.

The couple later welcomed their son, Vedavid, in May 2024.

Their decision to spend more time in Himachal Pradesh has also added a family dimension to the property, which offers considerably more space and privacy than a typical city residence.

A 25-acre estate surrounded by greenery

The house sits on a large estate spread across approximately 25 acres, giving the property a distinctly rural setting.

The land includes green spaces and areas used for growing fruits and vegetables. According to reports, Yami and Aditya have developed an organic kitchen garden and a greenhouse on the estate.

The couple reportedly grows produce including apples, potatoes, plums and ginger, while ETimes has also reported that fruits such as plums and lemons are grown on the property.

The gardens allow the family to spend time outdoors and maintain a closer connection with farming and nature.

For an actor who has often spoken about her affection for Himachal Pradesh, the large estate provides an environment far removed from the pace of Mumbai.

Greenhouse and organic garden add to the property

One of the notable features of the estate is the greenhouse.

The controlled growing space complements the organic garden and allows the couple to cultivate plants and produce on the property.

The emphasis on gardening and home-grown produce also fits with the couple’s broader preference for a quieter lifestyle in the hills.

Yami has shared glimpses of her everyday life at the property, including simple homemade wellness drinks. In some posts, she has shown herself preparing haldi ka paani, or turmeric water.

The social media glimpses have offered followers a view of a lifestyle centred more around nature, home-grown produce and family time than the glamour traditionally associated with celebrity homes.

Property reportedly worth Rs 8 crore

The heritage house and its surrounding land are reportedly valued at around Rs 8 crore, according to the Financial Express report.

The property reportedly came up for sale in 2016. ETimes reported that its previous owners had initially considered selling the estate to another buyer before eventually choosing Yami.

According to the report, the owners were reportedly comfortable selling the ancestral property to the actor because they trusted her to preserve and care for the heritage home.

The reported circumstances behind the sale further highlight the personal nature of the property and its historical connection to the region.

A home away from Mumbai

Yami and Aditya’s move towards Himachal Pradesh represents a significant change from the lifestyle associated with Mumbai’s film industry.

The couple’s Himachal home provides a quieter setting surrounded by mountains, farmland and greenery.

Yami has continued to work in films while maintaining her connection to the state. The property allows her to return to a familiar environment between professional commitments.

The actor’s posts from the estate have also shown a different side of her life, including time spent outdoors and moments connected with food, gardening and family.

Why the Himachal home matters to Yami

For Yami Gautam, the reported Rs 8-crore valuation is only one aspect of the property.

Its significance appears to be rooted in her personal history with Himachal Pradesh, from childhood summer holidays in Shimla to her wedding at the heritage house and her current family life there.

The century-old architecture, extensive use of wood and stone, organic gardens and greenhouse give the property a distinctive character.

As Yami and Aditya continue to build their life in Himachal Pradesh, the estate offers them a combination of heritage, privacy and proximity to nature.
