New Delhi: Actor Parineeti Chopra has publicly supported her husband, Raghav Chadha, after he was replaced as the deputy leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha.
The development follows the party’s decision to appoint Ashok Mittal to the position, with the change officially communicated to the Rajya Sabha secretariat.
“Silenced, not defeated”
Soon after the decision, Raghav Chadha shared a video on social media compiling moments from his speeches in Parliament. The video highlighted a range of public issues he had raised, including middle-class taxation, banking penalties, food adulteration, air pollution, exam paper leaks, data privacy, and rising costs in aviation and healthcare.
The clip concluded with Chadha walking out of Parliament and carried the caption: “Silenced, not defeated.”
In his message, Chadha questioned the reasoning behind his removal, asserting that his efforts in Parliament were always aimed at addressing public concerns.
“Whenever I get a chance to speak in Parliament, I raise public issues… Is raising public issues a crime?” he asked.
Parineeti Chopra shows solidarity
Parineeti Chopra reshared the video on her Instagram Stories, expressing solidarity with her husband during the political setback.
The actor has previously voiced her admiration for Chadha’s work. Recently, when he spoke about paternity leave in the Rajya Sabha, she had shared a heartfelt message praising his perspective on shared parenting.
She noted that his views were not just policy-driven but reflected his real-life role as a father, emphasising that parenting responsibilities should be shared equally.
A personal and political journey
The couple got engaged in May 2023 at Kapurthala House in New Delhi and tied the knot later that year in Udaipur. They welcomed their son, Neer, in October 2025.
Despite the political development, Chadha’s recent post suggests a continued commitment to raising public issues, while Parineeti’s support underscores their strong personal bond.
Parineeti’s professional front
On the work front, Parineeti Chopra was last seen in Amar Singh Chamkila alongside Diljit Dosanjh. She is set to appear next in the upcoming Netflix series Talaash: A Mother’s Search.
Conclusion
Raghav Chadha’s removal from a key parliamentary role has sparked discussion, but his response signals resilience. With Parineeti Chopra standing firmly by his side, the episode highlights both the challenges of public life and the importance of personal support during political transitions.
