Indian fashion influencer Sejal Kumar tied the knot with Bharat Subramaniam in an intimate ceremony in Mussoorie, choosing simplicity over spectacle and sentiment over extravagance. Known for her understated style, the 31-year-old bride made a quiet yet powerful statement with her wedding and reception looks.
A bride who chose subtlety over excess
At a time when bridal fashion is often defined by heavy lehengas, elaborate embroidery and layers of jewellery, Sejal flipped the script. For all her bridal appearances — from the wedding ceremony to the reception — she opted for elegant sarees and minimal styling, proving that grandeur can exist in restraint.
A saree rich in memories
The most touching moment came at her Delhi reception, where Sejal wore her mother’s wedding saree — a 37-year-old Banarasi sari that predates her own birth. Bought for just ₹900 decades ago, the saree carried emotional value far beyond any luxury label.
Sharing the moment on social media, Sejal wrote, “Wore my mom’s wedding saree for our Delhi reception! This is 37 years old, and she bought it for ₹900 back then!”
Generations woven together
The look went beyond the saree. Sejal accessorised with bangles belonging to her grandmother and her husband’s grandmother, subtly carrying blessings from both families. Her mother, Dr Anjali Kumar, revealed the detail in a heartfelt comment, saying the saree looked even more beautiful on her daughter.
Minimal makeup, maximum impact
Keeping with the theme, Sejal chose soft makeup with a bold red lip, loose curls, and a single statement neckpiece. The overall look was graceful, personal and deeply evocative — a reminder that bridal fashion can be meaningful without being loud.
Photographed by 1Plus1 Studio, the reception images captured more than a fashion moment. They told a story of heritage, family and continuity.
In choosing memories over embellishments, Sejal Kumar’s bridal look stood out — not for how much it cost, but for how much it meant.
