Puttur: “Gandhi Smruthi” event was organized in the PG seminar of St Philomena College in Puttur. This event was conducted under the auspices of the Yaksha Kalakendra, and the NSS wing of the College.
Presiding over the event, Principal Rev. Dr Anthony Prakash Monteiro stated, “A person becomes a ‘Mahatma’ through his deeds. Gandhiji’s selfless and non-violent approach played a crucial role in securing independence for our country. Celebrating the Jayantis of great figures like Gandhiji and Shastriji inspires us to incorporate their principles into our own lives.”
The resource person was Ramanji Udupi, assistant professor in the Department of Kannada at St Philomena College in Puttur, who emphasized that Gandhiji is a symbol of power. He highlighted that the principles of truth, non-violence, and empathy that Gandhi preached remain relevant for all time.
Dr A. P. Radhakrishna, Vice Principal, delivered a relevant address.
Representing the students, Nikhita from II BBA program paid tribute to these great men. The performing arts team rendered a prayer.
Priya D’Souza, a student from the III BA compered. Director of Yaksha Kalakendra Prashant Rai extended a warm welcome. NSS Officer, Vasudeva N, proposed a vote of thanks.
