A devastating accident near Thoobinakere in Mandya on Thursday resulted in the immediate death of four individuals when their car was crushed in a collision with a state-owned bus.

The deceased were identified as Satyananda Raje Urs (51), his wife Nischitha (45), Chandrashekar (62), and his wife Suvedini Rani (62). The group was en route from J.P. Nagar, Bengaluru, to Periyapatna taluk in Mysuru district when the tragedy struck.

Reports indicate that the car driver initially planned to exit the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway via a bypass road near Thoobinakere but abruptly decided to stay on the main road. A speeding state transport bus from Bengaluru then rear-ended the car, crushing it completely. The impact was fatal for all four occupants, while several bus passengers sustained minor injuries.

Local residents swiftly arrived at the scene, assisting in retrieving the bodies from the wreckage. Mandya police have filed a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash.
