District Health Officer Dr. Mohan Kumar emphasized the importance of healthy habits to prevent diseases like cancer during a World Cancer Day rally on Monday. The event, organized in collaboration with Narayana Hospital, Mysuru, and Lions Clubs International, aimed to raise awareness about early detection and prevention.

Dr. Kumar highlighted that community health officers at sub-health centers are actively identifying potential cancer cases in their early stages. He stressed that lifestyle and dietary choices significantly impact overall health.

Dr. Nishchalraj, a surgical oncologist from Narayana Hospital, stated that cancer detected in stages 1 or 2 can be effectively treated, allowing patients to lead normal lives. He urged people to seek medical attention at the first sign of symptoms to improve recovery chances.
