Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumara, speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Manasa Yuva Sanvardhane-2025’ (Industrial and Youth Empowerment Workshop) organised by the University of Mysore on Tuesday, urged young individuals to cultivate a love for reading. He stressed that books, not mobile phones, are key to personal growth and success.
Kumara highlighted that reading broadens perspective and builds confidence, enabling individuals to “walk with heads held high.” He acknowledged that life’s journey is filled with challenges but advised youths to stay resilient and proud in the face of adversity.
Drawing an inspiring comparison, he encouraged setting goals with the same unwavering focus as a river flowing towards the sea. He emphasized the need to step out of comfort zones, avoid distractions, and believe in oneself to achieve success.
Kumara also underscored the importance of managing time wisely, stating that once lost, it cannot be reclaimed. Learning continuously from life’s experiences, planning effectively, and maintaining a positive mindset are essential, he added.
University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor N.K. Lokanath echoed similar sentiments, stressing the value of education, cultural learning, and reading beyond textbooks to foster well-rounded knowledge.
