Mandya’s in-charge secretary, V. Anbu Kumar, has underscored the need to enhance the district’s SSLC exam pass percentage. Speaking at a progress review meeting held at the zilla panchayat on Saturday, Kumar urged education officers to organise robust revision sessions and preparatory exams to improve student outcomes. Officials were instructed to analyse test performances, pinpoint weak subjects, and provide extra classes coupled with confidence-building sessions to support students effectively.
Deputy commissioner Kumara stressed the importance of meeting performance targets, citing an upcoming state-level review chaired by the chief minister later this month. He also mandated surprise inspections at the district’s eight Indira Canteens to ensure food quality, hygiene, and taste standards are maintained.
Zilla panchayat chief executive officer Sheikh Tanveer Asif presented updates on key development programs, including MGNREGA, Jal Jeevan Mission, the Multi-Village Drinking Water Scheme, and the Swachh Bharat Mission. These initiatives are critical to the district’s welfare and progress.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including additional deputy commissioner BC Shivanandamurthy, district health and family welfare officer Dr. K. Mohan, deputy director of public instruction H. Shivaramegowda, and deputy director of pre-university education C. Cheluvaiah.
This concerted effort highlights the district’s focus on both educational advancements and public service improvements.
