Mangaluru: Activists of the Bajrang Dal (BD) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) staged a protest on Tuesday, October 20, against the illegal transport of cattle and the sale of adultrated meat.

Addressing the gathering, VHP regional secretary Sharan Pumpwell said, “Several cases of illegal cattle trafficking have been filed in various police stations, but the cops have failed to take any action. While tempos or mini trucks were used to conduct this illegal trade before, cars, SUVs and minivans are being used to transport the cows to slaughter houses in Dakshina Kannada and Kudroli illegally. There is a huge network of illegal cow trafficking behind this illegal trade and the VHP and Bajrang Dal urge the law enforcement to form a special squad to stop this illegal trade.”

Demanding that the police nab the culprits and take severe action against them, including those who were caught on October 4, he assured that they would continue to protest and fight until all illegal activities of the meat transporters, slaughter houses and meat stalls are stopped.

“Just like how the illegal supply of beef doesn’t seem to be stopping, our protests also will not stop till justice is served,” Sharan added.

BD District Secretary Shivanand Mendon, BD Regional Convenor Bhujanga Kulal, District Vice President Manohar Suvarna, Guruprasad Ullal and Pradeep Pumpwell, and others were present.
