Surathkal: A house-to-house demonstration was held on Saturday June 5 demanding the prioritization of locals in employment at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) and other local industries.
“Thousands of people have volunteered to join this protest movement today demanding to cancel the recruitment process in MRPL and the government should implement the Sarojini Mahshi Report. More Kannadigas and localites must get employment in the MRPL. This protest is just a warning to the authorities, If the government did not take any serious action in this regard, post-pandemic more protests will be held in both districts,” said Muneer Katipalla, State president of Democratic Youth Federation of India and convenor of Samana Manaska Sanghatane.
The demonstration was held under the slogan “Tulunadu Abhivradidda Tuluvappe Jokuleg Mallapal.” The demonstration was led by the Democratic Youth Federation of India.
