Mangaluru: In an incident which happened here on Monday May 17, instead of giving the body of a coronavirus-infected person, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre was alleged to have delivered another body.
The hospital staff is said to have wrongly handed over the body of the man from Hosabettu to the family from Karkala. When the body was taken to Kariyakallu graveyard at Karkala for the funeral, the relatives noticed that the body had been exchanged.
They sent the body back after which the hospital staff searched for the right body and then replaced it in place of the wrong one.
Clarifying on this matter, Srinivas Rao, Vice President of Srinivas Institutions told News Karnataka that the body was handed over after the concerned party had identified it. “All the documentation procedure was conducted properly,” he said. Srinivas said that further procedures have been added to avoid such mishaps in future. “We had a two-level check list system for handing over the bodies but this has now changed into a four-level system,” he emphasised.
