Mangaluru: SWAG ERT in association with Sonu Sood Foundation and GRP, Mangaluru have launched a Rapid Oxygen Centre at Mangaluru Central Railway Station on Thursday June3. The Centre will cater to emergency oxygen requirements of Mangaluru and surrounding areas.
“We have established a permanent emergency response team in this centre which will respond not only for Covid needs but during any natural calamity,” said Amit Purohit, director of SWAG ERT. During the pandemic, SWAG Bikers, a bike rental start up from Bengaluru, took it upon themselves to help people and utilised their resources for rapid supply of oxygen through its large fleet of bikes and trucks. This company which started delivering in Bengaluru and its rural areas, now provides oxygen across Karnataka. Sonu Sood Foundation on seeing the work done by the team, together have come up with Rapid oxygen centres in Bengaluru, Hubballi, Ballari and a new one in Mangaluru. “Soon we will start centres in other parts of Karnataka,” said Amit Purohit.
This project is planned under the mentorship and project planning of ADGP GRP Karnataka Police, Bhaskar Rao. “Under the guidance of Bhaskar sir, we were given access to 18 GRP police stations across Karnataka which has opened up a new gateway and helped us to expand and reach every part of the state,” said Amit. He added that now the police staff along with the team from SWAG ERT helps to deliver oxygen to the rural parts of Karnataka.
