Bantwal: A case of theft involving ₹1 lakh in cash has been reported at the Bantwal Town Police Station, after a man alleged that money he was carrying for a car purchase went missing. The incident surfaced two days after it occurred.
According to the complaint, the victim Ranganath, a resident of Kundapur, stated that two bundles of ₹50,000 each disappeared from his pocket. He explained that he had earlier sold a car and was carrying ₹1.6 lakh in total, divided into three bundles of ₹50,000 and one bundle of ₹10,000.
On August 15, Ranganath visited Shanti Shop in Kalladka, BC Road, with the intention of purchasing a car. However, due to incomplete vehicle documents, the deal was delayed. He then stayed at a friend’s house in Kaikamba before proceeding to the BC Road bus stand the next morning to travel to Kottigehara.
It was while boarding the bus that he discovered the money missing. Out of the three ₹50,000 bundles, only one remained, leaving him short of ₹1 lakh.
Following this, Ranganath lodged a complaint at Bantwal Town Police Station. Police have registered the case and begun investigation, including checking CCTV footage from the area to trace the culprit.
