Mangalore: Heavy rainfall has put 16 houses in the municipality at risk, prompting the Corporation to instruct affected families to relocate to safer areas.

According to Kannur Mayor Sudhir Shetty, 12 houses in Kettikal and 4 houses in Ballurgudde are in danger due to the rain. The Corporation has advised these families to move elsewhere.

Mayor Shetty stated that if the state government grants funding, the Corporation may reimburse the rent paid by the affected families. However, he emphasized that the Corporation currently lacks the necessary funds.

Experts from Suratkal NITK will inspect the wet well constructed by the Corporation in Kettikal. The Corporation will decide whether to continue the work based on the experts’ report.
