Mangaluru: Kankanady police intercepted a vehicle near Padil in Mangaluru after receiving information from Bajrang Dal members about the alleged illegal and inhumane transportation of cattle.
According to police, 17 cattle were being transported in the vehicle in a manner that allegedly subjected the animals to cruelty. Acting on the information, Kankanady police stopped the vehicle and rescued the cattle.
One arrested, another absconding
Police arrested one person allegedly involved in transporting the cattle. Another person reportedly fled the spot and is currently absconding.
The arrested person was taken into custody as police began further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the transportation of the cattle and the involvement of others.
Narcotic substances reportedly recovered
Police also reportedly recovered narcotic substances from the arrested person during the operation.
The recovery has become part of the ongoing investigation, with police examining the circumstances under which the substances were allegedly possessed and whether there are any links between the accused and other individuals.
Investigation underway
The operation was conducted by the Kankanady police following the information received from Bajrang Dal members.
The rescued cattle have been secured, while police are continuing their investigation into the alleged illegal transportation. Efforts are also underway to trace the person who reportedly fled from the spot.
