Moodbidri: A 19-year-old youth was killed after a private bus collided head-on with his two-wheeler at Todaru on the Mangaluru-Karkala National Highway on Friday, October 30.
The deceased has been identified as Rifaaz, a resident of Todaru. He was reportedly employed at a fruit shop in Moodbidri.
The accident occurred when a private bus named Abhiman was travelling from Mangaluru towards Moodbidri. According to reports, the bus, which was supposed to take the service road, allegedly entered the opposite lane at high speed and collided with Rifaaz’s two-wheeler.
Youth dies while being shifted to hospital
The impact of the collision left Rifaaz critically injured. He was reportedly rushed for medical assistance, but succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital.
The accident has left the family and residents of Todaru grieving over the untimely death of the young man.
Police register case
Moodbidri police visited the accident spot following the incident and conducted an inspection.
A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station, and further investigation is under way to establish the circumstances leading to the collision.
The alleged entry of the bus into the opposite lane and the circumstances surrounding the accident are being investigated.
