A 23-year-old woman from Kerala has been reported missing after allegedly applying for marriage registration in Wayanad, her parents said while appealing for police intervention.

Speaking at Pathrika Bhavan on Thursday, the parents stated that they filed a missing complaint at Surathkal Police Station after discovering that their daughter was no longer at her paying guest accommodation in Surathkal.

Marriage registration linked to disappearance

According to the family, they later learnt that their daughter had reportedly submitted an application for marriage registration with a man in Wayanad. The revelation deepened their concern, as they claimed they were unaware of her plans.

The parents travelled to Wayanad and approached the local police station. The girl’s mother alleged that they were allowed to speak to their daughter briefly and that she had indicated she would return home. However, the family said they received no further clarity thereafter.

The young woman had completed her degree and was working in Bengaluru. Her parents said they were unaware that she had shifted from Bengaluru and was staying in a PG accommodation in Surathkal before going missing.

Family seeks coordinated action

The parents have urged Mangaluru City Police to coordinate with Kerala authorities and ensure their daughter’s safety. They requested a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance following the reported marriage registration.

Meanwhile, members of the Hindu Jagaran Vedike called upon the authorities to look into the matter seriously and safeguard the interests of the family.

Police confirmed that a missing case has been registered and further action is under way.
