Moodbidri: A 28-year-old youth who sustained grievous injuries in a road accident at Gantalkatte on Friday night succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning despite undergoing treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Poojary (28), son of Shekhara Poojary and a resident of Nuralabettu. He was working as a mess worker at a college in Kallabettu.
The accident occurred when Sandeep was riding his two-wheeler at Gantalkatte. A Tata Ace vehicle reportedly collided with his motorcycle, resulting in a severe crash.
Severe head injuries in collision
The impact of the collision left Sandeep with serious head injuries. Following the accident, he was immediately shifted to Alva’s Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Considering the severity of his injuries, he was admitted to the intensive care unit, where doctors continued efforts to stabilise his condition.
However, despite receiving treatment, his condition remained critical. He reportedly failed to respond to the medical intervention and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.
Family loses young member
Sandeep’s death has left his family and relatives in shock. At 28, he was employed and working as a mess worker at a college in Kallabettu.
The accident, which initially left him critically injured, ultimately proved fatal two days later. His death has also caused sadness among those who knew him at his workplace and in his native Nuralabettu.
The incident once again highlights the potentially devastating consequences of road collisions, particularly when two-wheelers are involved.
