Mangaluru: The Mangaluru branch of the All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) has announced its plan to organize a signature drive and a family protest at the Mangaluru Junction railway station this Saturday. The union has raised concerns over the ongoing anti-labor policies, particularly the denial of leave and the imposition of absent status, which they argue is causing severe financial hardship for railway workers.

In a statement, the AILRSA emphasized the need for the divisional railway manager (DRM) to step in and address the issue directly. The union claims that workers at the Mangaluru depot in the Palakkad division are being denied leave, even for urgent family emergencies. They criticized the crew control restroom controller (CCRC) at the depot, claiming it has failed in its role as a mediator between the workers and administration, opting instead to issue orders.

According to the association, the loco running staff at Mangaluru are enduring unbearable conditions, and the situation is escalating. In response, the Mangaluru branch has decided to take action, planning both a signature campaign and a family protest. Prominent leaders PK Ashokan and KK Kesavan are expected to participate in the protest.
