Mangaluru: The AIMIT Chapel witnessed a devout and reflective Palm Sunday celebration on the evening of April 13, as members of the community gathered in reverence.
The ceremony began with the blessing of the palm branches, a tradition that commemorates the beginning of Holy Week. Holding the consecrated palms, the congregation then took part in a symbolic procession, reenacting Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem, welcomed by crowds waving palms and hailing Him as King.
The Eucharistic celebration was led by Fr Kiran, director of AIMIT, with Fr Avinash serving as co-celebrant. Together, they guided the faithful through the sacred liturgy that marks the beginning of Christ’s Passion.
During his homily, Fr Kiran encouraged everyone present to reflect deeply on the dual nature of Palm Sunday — the joyful acclamation of Jesus as the Messiah, soon followed by the agony of His betrayal, suffering, and death on the cross. He underlined the message that glory and suffering are deeply interconnected, highlighting how the liturgy invites the faithful to meditate on Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and boundless love.
The celebration served as a spiritual anchor for all attendees, reminding them of the humility, grace, and courage exemplified by Christ in His final days. It also marked a meaningful start to the solemn observances of Holy Week.
