Mangaluru: The bail plea of Anil Lobo, Chairman of MCC Bank, has been postponed to December 31 by the Hon’ble III Additional District and Sessions Judge of Mangaluru. The adjournment allows time to address the victim’s brother’s application and objections to the main petition.
The case stems from the tragic suicide of 47-year-old Manohar Pereira, a resident of Ulaiyibettu village, on December 17, 2024. In a video recorded before his death, Pereira accused Lobo of misappropriating ₹9 lakh, holding him responsible for the distress that led to the suicide.
An FIR was filed at Mangaluru Rural Police Station the next day, leading to Lobo’s arrest. He faces charges under Section 108 of the BNS for abetment to suicide.
The case has sparked widespread public interest, with many awaiting the court’s decision.
