MANGALURU: An auto-rickshaw driver sustained injuries on Sunday night after a scuffle with an unidentified man near Bendorewell in the city.
Incident details
The driver, identified as Basheer, had stopped his vehicle to relieve himself when the unknown man approached and questioned him in Beary language, asking, “Will you inform the police?” Basheer allegedly slapped the man in response, which led to a scuffle. During the altercation, Basheer suffered an injury to his stomach.
The driver retaliated by hitting the attacker, who then fled the scene.
Police action
Basheer was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Kadri police recorded his statement and registered a case. Investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the attacker.
