Mangaluru: While the city corporation remains largely unresponsive to public woes, common citizens continue to take the lead in improving civic life. One such inspiring effort comes from an autorickshaw driver, Bubanna, who has drawn widespread praise near Karavali Circle.

Displaying a sense of duty that should ideally lie with the municipal authorities, Bubanna, a daily wage earner, took it upon himself to fill potholes at the busy junction. His simple yet impactful act has won the admiration of passersby and residents alike, who hailed it as a true humanitarian gesture.

This is not the first time he has stepped forward. Last year too, Bubanna undertook the same task when authorities failed to act. Yet again, despite the recurring issue, he chose to contribute his own time and effort for the safety of road users.

Locals, while applauding his commitment, voiced frustration over the negligence of the civic body. Many expressed that the persistent problem reflects poorly on the administration and urged the corporation to take responsibility rather than depend on ordinary citizens to manage such essential work.

Bubanna’s selfless service stands as both an inspiration and a reminder—that change begins with individual effort, but long-term solutions demand government accountability.
