In Narankodi Colony, Bolanthur village, Bantwal taluk, a recent program titled “Awareness and Assistance for Tribal Development” highlighted ongoing issues faced by the local tribal community. This event, part of Journalism Day celebrations organized by the Bantwal Taluk Working Journalists Association and Press Club, shed light on significant concerns such as incomplete land records, non-functional borewells, and unfinished roads.
Tribal resident Maire expressed her frustrations, noting problems such as inadequate food distribution for two families and the need for expanded storage for basket weaving materials. The event also emphasized the daily lives of the residents, including those working as ASHA workers and daily laborers, and showcased the handicrafts produced by the community.
Bantwal tehsildar D Archana Bhatt promised to address these issues by reviewing land allocation, ensuring proper food distribution, and discussing infrastructure improvements with relevant officials. She also pledged to support the community’s handicraft market and respond to their demands for land title deeds.
The program was praised by Khadar Shah of the Department of Information and Public Relations and Sheena Shetty of Janashikshana Trust. It featured health checkups and distribution of essentials like rice and medicinal plants. The event was well-attended by local journalists and officials, including Prashanth Punjalkatte, who facilitated the distribution of rice to tribal families.
