Former Minister and Congress leader B. Ramanath Rai has called for a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-undergraduate) conducted by the National Testing Agency. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Mr. Rai expressed concerns over the hurried announcement of NEET results on June 4, coinciding with the Lok Sabha election results, which has led to suspicions regarding the test’s conduct and result declaration.

Mr. Rai highlighted that the results were originally scheduled to be declared on June 14 but were unexpectedly released amidst the election results, raising questions about transparency. He also pointed out suspicions about one particular test center producing numerous high ranks.

Dakshina Kannada and Karnataka have a significant number of medical colleges, and students were previously well-served by the Common Entrance Test (CET) system. Both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have expressed opposition to NEET, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pledging support to students claiming victimization.

KPCC General Secretary Padmaraj R. Poojary added that NEET question papers were allegedly leaked before the test, jeopardizing the futures of thousands of students. He also noted the lack of response from student unions other than the National Students Union of India.
