Bantwal: Vittal police have arrested a 52-year-old man who had allegedly been absconding for around 15 years in connection with a fraud case involving promises of bank jobs. The accused, identified as Hibbathullah, a resident of Balnadu, was arrested on October 5 and produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
According to the police, a case was registered against Hibbathullah at Vittal police station in 2011 after two people allegedly paid him money based on his promise to secure them jobs in a bank. The promised employment did not materialise and the money was reportedly not returned.
Case registered in 2011
The fraud case dates back to 2011, when two individuals allegedly approached Hibbathullah after being assured that he could help them secure employment in a bank.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly collected money from both individuals after making the job promises. However, he reportedly failed to secure the promised employment and subsequently did not return the money paid to him.
Following the complaint, Vittal police registered a case against him and initiated legal proceedings.
The case subsequently remained pending as the accused allegedly failed to appear before the court and remained away from the authorities for several years.
Accused allegedly remained absconding for 15 years
Hibbathullah had reportedly been absconding for around 15 years after failing to appear before the court in connection with the case.
The prolonged absence meant that the legal proceedings could not be completed against him. Police continued efforts to trace the accused, eventually locating and taking him into custody on October 5.
His arrest brings the long-pending case back into the judicial process.
The arrest also highlights the efforts of police to trace accused persons who remain unavailable for extended periods despite pending criminal proceedings.
Produced before court
After taking Hibbathullah into custody, Vittal police produced him before the court as part of the legal procedure.
The court subsequently remanded him in judicial custody. Further proceedings in the case will now take place through the judicial process.
The arrest is related to the case registered in 2011 and does not by itself establish guilt. The allegations against the accused will be considered through the court proceedings.
Fraud involved alleged bank job promise
The case centres on allegations that money was collected from two people after promising to arrange bank employment for them.
Job-related fraud cases can cause financial losses to victims who pay money based on assurances of employment. In this case, the two complainants allegedly paid money but did not receive the promised jobs and reportedly did not get their money back.
The case subsequently led to police action and court proceedings against Hibbathullah.
With the accused now in judicial custody, the pending case can proceed further according to law.
Police arrest ends long absconding period
The arrest of Hibbathullah after around 15 years marks a significant development in the long-pending case registered at Vittal police station.
Police took him into custody on October 5 and completed the necessary procedure before producing him before the court. His judicial custody follows the court’s order.
Further developments in the case will depend on the ongoing judicial proceedings and evidence available to the investigating authorities.
