Bantwal: The Tulu cultural world is in shock following the untimely passing of Mounesh Acharya Mani, aged 44, a beloved Tulu theatre actor and comedian, who died of a heart attack early Tuesday morning at his Kapikad residence.
A familiar name in Bantwal’s theatre circles, Mounesh wore many hats—a skilled goldsmith, a grocery store owner, and most memorably, a vibrant stage performer. Known for his natural humour, kind nature, and grounded lifestyle, he had earned a deep connection with both audiences and his fellow artistes.
Mounesh was a prominent member of several Tulu cultural troupes, including Jayam Kala Niketan Mani, Kalamate Naganavalchil, and Tulu Appejoklu Kala Balaga, where he often performed under the direction of Shantarama Kalladka. At the time of his death, he played an active role in the Namma Kalavaru Nelyadi troupe.
In recent times, Mounesh also became popular online for his comic video appearances with young artist Sachin Mani, where his impeccable comic timing and expressive performances drew praise across age groups.
His sudden death has left family, friends, and theatre lovers deeply grieved. Tributes have poured in from all corners of the Tulu community, remembering him as a talented, warm-hearted performer who made everyone laugh with ease.
Mounesh is survived by his mother, wife, daughter, and brother, along with a vast circle of fans and well-wishers.
