Bantwal: In a heart-rending appeal, 10-year kidney patient Jossy Melwyn Veigas of Modankap, Bantwal, is seeking financial assistance to continue life-saving dialysis and rebuild his home damaged by a recent landslide.

A decade-long struggle with illness

Jossy has been undergoing thrice-weekly dialysis for the past decade, a treatment that has taken a heavy toll on his health, energy, and financial resources. Despite borrowing from friends, relatives, and well-wishers, his family is now grappling with extreme poverty.

“Dialysis alone costs a significant amount each month. Add to that medicines, nutrition, and transport to the hospital, and it becomes an unbearable burden,” said a family acquaintance.

Home damaged by landslide

The family’s troubles worsened when heavy rain triggered a landslide that filled their house with mud, rendering it unsafe. With no place to stay, Jossy, his wife, and young son are currently living in temporary accommodation, adding to their emotional and financial distress.
