Brian Fernandes served as the Director, Editor-in-Chief, and Shareholder of News Karnataka and Spearhead Media Pvt Ltd, playing a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s editorial vision and strategic direction. Over the past decade, he was instrumental in building Spearhead Media from its inception into a recognised media entity.
Known for his clarity of thought and commitment to ethical journalism, Brian’s leadership helped strengthen the credibility and reach of News Karnataka. His ability to balance editorial integrity with business acumen earned him respect across the industry.

Academic roots and early influence
An alumnus of the 1983–1985 MSW batch from the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, Brian carried forward the institution’s values of social responsibility and compassion into his professional life.
