Mangaluru: Canara Bank, Circle Office Mangaluru, celebrated its 173rd Founder’s Day with great enthusiasm by organising two major community service initiatives — a blood donation camp and a walkathon promoting financial literacy.

Blood donation camp inaugurated by medical fraternity
A blood donation camp was organised in association with the Indian Red Cross Society and inaugurated by Dr Shantharam Shetty, renowned medical practitioner, who served as Chief Guest.
Sri Manjunath B. Singai, Circle Head and General Manager, along with Smt Latha Kurup, Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank Mangalore Region; Sri Shailendra Nath, Deputy General Manager; and Smt L. R. Vijayashree, Deputy General Manager, Mangalore Circle Office, were present.

The camp received an overwhelming response from staff, customers and well-wishers who came forward to donate blood and support the life-saving initiative.

Walkathon spreads awareness on financial literacy
As part of the Founder’s Day celebrations, a walkathon was held in association with the local police to promote banking awareness and financial literacy among the public.
The walkathon commenced from the historic monument where Canara Bank was founded and concluded at the Circle Office.
Participants walked along three designated routes across the city carrying placards and banners, spreading messages on the importance of banking and financial well-being.

Sri Manjunath B. Singai flagged off the walkathon, accompanied by senior officials, ex-staff and employees. The large-scale participation added momentum to the awareness drive.
Commitment to social responsibility
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Manjunath B. Singai said:
“Canara Bank is proud to be a part of the country’s financial landscape for over 173 years. We remain committed to delivering quality banking services and promoting financial inclusion. Initiatives such as the blood donation camp and walkathon reflect our dedication to social responsibility and community service.”
