Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta directed officials to implement all national highway-related works effectively. During a review meeting, he noted the ongoing four-laning projects from BC Road to Addahole, Sanoor to Bikarnakatte, and Poonjalkatte to Charmadi, emphasizing their potential to enhance district connectivity.
Expressing concern over delays on the BC Road to Mani stretch, Capt Chowta stressed that the public’s patience should not be tested and urged the NHAI to expedite the work with additional resources. He directed that critical stretches at Melkar, Kalladka, Mani, and Uppinangady Junction be completed by July 5.
The MP also called for accelerated progress on the Karkala-Moodbidri-Mangaluru stretch and the timely handover of acquired land for the Moodbidri Bypass to the NHAI. NHAI Project Director Abdulla Javed Azmi reported a suspension of work on the new bridge at Kuloor, prompting Capt Chowta to instruct the DC to escalate the issue to higher NHAI officials.
Additionally, Capt Chowta sought a report on the construction of a service road from Talapady to Hejamady and urged immediate resolution of issues on the Punjalkatte to Charmadi stretch. Temporary measures have been implemented to facilitate vehicle movement on several stretches, with ongoing work on the service road from Guruvayanakere to Ujire.
