Sullia – Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta unveiled YuvVikas, a visionary youth engagement programme aimed at nurturing skill development, entrepreneurship, and career clarity through professional mentorship.
Speaking at the launch in Sullia, Captain Chowta emphasized the untapped potential of rural areas. “We often talk about opportunities in metro cities, but the next unicorn startup could just as well be born right here,” he noted.
Highlighting Dakshina Kannada’s rich legacy, he said the region had produced pathbreakers in banking, education, and industry even before digital tools became widespread. “They succeeded not through access, but through vision, self-confidence, and clarity of purpose,” he added.
YuvVikas has been launched in collaboration with Sundara Bharata Trust, Bengaluru. The inaugural session saw a panel of industry experts address local students on diverse themes including information technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation pathways.
The programme also echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks in Mann Ki Baat—that over half of India’s startups are now emerging from Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns, with many led by young women entrepreneurs.
Students from across Sullia taluk actively participated, engaging in sessions designed to help them challenge traditional thinking, identify future goals, and explore ideas that could shape their personal and professional growth.
YuvVikas aims to turn rural ambition into tangible achievement by building bridges between local talent and global opportunity.
