Mangaluru: A major accident was narrowly avoided near the Pilikula Herbarium and Botanical Museum on the outskirts of Mangaluru after a car lost control and rammed into multiple vehicles and an electric pole.

Car rams into parked vehicles

According to eyewitnesses, the car first veered off course and hit two parked motorbikes and a scooter before colliding with a light pole. The impact was so severe that one of the parked cars nearby was pushed onto a compound wall.

Driver escapes without major injuries

The car was identified as belonging to Vishwanath, a local resident, who was himself behind the wheel at the time of the accident. Despite the intensity of the crash, he escaped without any serious injuries.

While the bikes and scooter sustained heavy damage, no casualties were reported, much to the relief of commuters and residents in the vicinity.

Police probe underway

Personnel from the Kavoor police station and the Baikampady traffic division rushed to the spot and carried out preliminary investigations. Authorities are now assessing the extent of damages and the exact circumstances that led to the accident.
