Eight school students and their driver were injured when the car they were traveling in overturned near Bantwal, Dakshina Kannada district, on Wednesday. The incident occurred in Peruvai village, allegedly due to a brake failure.
Among the injured, two students and the driver, Muliya Ramanna, sustained serious injuries. Ramanna suffered a severe head injury and is currently in critical care, though stable. The others have been admitted to hospitals in Mangaluru and Bantwal.
The accident happened as the vehicle was en route to drop children at a school bus stop in Vittal from Peruvai. The Vittal police have registered a case, and investigations are ongoing.
